Healthy & beautiful skin – What does skin aging and UV rays have to do with AURUM?

Have you ever heard of Photoaging? It's the aging of the skin caused by the sun, or more precisely, by UV rays. That's right, UV rays can make your skin look older. But fear not! With AURUM, you can tighten your skin and turn back the clock. We'll let you in on the secret of how this training naturally replenishes your tissues. And you know what? Both the sun and AURUM training have something in common – they bring a smile to your face.

Why too much sun is harmful to beautiful skin

Have you ever had sunburn? If you answered “yes” to this question, you're not alone. About two-thirds of 18 to 24-year-olds had sunburn in 2022. Although the number decreases with age, 23 percent of those over 55 reported having experienced at least one sunburn in a survey.

Sunburn is caused by the UV-B rays from the sun, which are classified as carcinogenic. UV-A rays are also evaluated the same way. While they don't cause sunburn, they contribute to premature skin aging. These rays penetrate deep into the skin, causing oxidative stress. Free radicals are formed, damaging the tissue. The result is wrinkles, age spots, and dry skin. The most severe consequence of UV radiation is melanoma, a potentially life-threatening form of skin cancer. Skin cancer in general is one of the most common malignant tumors. The risk increases with each sunburn, which is why sun protection is not only good for your beauty but essential for your health.

Which sun is the best sun for boosting your well-being?

However, the sun is not only associated with negative aspects but is also responsible for supporting life on Earth. It uplifts our spirits by stimulating the production of Vitamin D in our skin. Additionally, we can harness the power of the sun to optimize our sleep. Andrew Huberman, a professor of neurobiology and ophthalmology at Stanford Medicine, explains, “Morning and evening sunlight is the key to restful sleep, enhanced focus, and daytime energy.” What's more, this type of sun exposure is also gentler on the skin. It's a win-win situation!

Preventing skin aging and enjoying youthful skin for a long time

It's natural for the skin to age over the years. However, you can prevent premature skin aging by following some simple tips for beautiful skin:

Tip 1: Protect your skin from UV rays

Even though the sun boosts your mood, you should avoid direct sunlight during midday. It's less harmful to enjoy the sun in the morning or evening. Cover your skin with clothing to protect it from sun rays and seek shade. But be careful, even in the shade and on cloudy days, your skin can be damaged by UV rays. That's why you should also ensure additional UV protection while in the shade.

Sunscreen should be your daily companion in summer. We understand that applying sunscreen can be annoying, and it can feel sticky and make your skin look shiny. However, you should not skip it. A high sun protection factor effectively shields your skin from UV rays, thus preventing sunburn and premature skin aging. To achieve the stated sun protection factor, you need to apply about 40 milliliters of sunscreen to cover your entire body, which is about half an espresso cup. If a single tube of sunscreen has lasted you the whole summer so far, now you know that you either applied too infrequently or too little. Starting from a UV index of 3, remember to use sunscreen or cover your skin for healthy skin. You can find information about the UV index in most weather apps.

Which sunscreen is actually the best? This question concerns many people. It doesn't always have to be the expensive cream from the pharmacy, as shown by the results from Stiftung Warentest, which regularly evaluate the effectiveness of sun sprays and similar products. However, when it comes to sunscreen, additional factors are increasingly becoming part of the purchasing decision. For example, potential pollutants or ingredients that can impact the environment, especially water quality. Our recommendation: Take a look at the tests conducted by Stiftung Warentest and Öko-Test to find your favorite sunscreen.

Tip 2: Take care of your skin daily

We're not here to advertise beauty products, but we do recommend high-quality skincare products provide sufficient moisture to your skin, promoting firmness. You can also use a serum with antioxidants like Vitamin C externally to combat premature skin aging.

Tip 3: Vitamin C, collagen, water, and more – healthy nutrition for youthful skin

Antioxidants such as Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and phytonutrients from your diet help the body neutralize free radicals and protect against oxidative stress. Therefore, pay attention to a varied diet rich in fresh vegetables and fruits. To learn how your diet can help you stay fit and healthy in summer, check out this guide: Nutrition in hot weather.

When asked about her secret for youthful skin, Jennifer Aniston mentions “Glow Coffee.” The Hollywood star allegedly drinks coffee with collagen powder for beauty purposes. Collagen is also present in certain foods like gelatin gummies or bone broth. However, your body can also produce collagen itself when provided with sufficient amino acids and Vitamin C, even in a vegan form.

Adequate hydration, namely water, is also an essential aspect of a healthy diet. Drinking enough water helps keep the skin young as it improves circulation. This stimulates the skin's metabolism and provides a fresh glow.

Tip 4: Exercise for toning and firm skin

Many women struggle not only with skin aging but also with cellulite. Especially during summer, it becomes evident when feeling comfortable in dresses or shorts becomes a challenge. While there's no miracle cure for those pesky skin dimples, you can actively work on minimizing them. High-intensity strength training can be an effective method against cellulite. The increased muscle mass can slightly tighten the skin from underneath, like a cushion. Therefore, strength training not only keeps your muscles in shape but also contributes to a youthful complexion.

Another benefit of any form of exercise is improved blood circulation. This leads to a rosy teint, especially in the face. Sweating during exercise helps flush sebum out of the pores, which can contribute to healthier skin. However, make sure not to let sweat dry on your skin, as it can clog pores and promote the formation of pimples. So, after exercising, quickly take a shower and then take care of your skin.

How AURUM can help you achieve beautiful skin

The main goal of AURUM Training is to promote health, build muscle mass, enhance well-being, and aid in weight reduction. Beautiful skin is a wonderful side effect of this training. During the second trial session, we assessed your cellular health for the first time by measuring the phase angle. We regularly monitor this value to determine how well your cells are functioning, which can be improved through enhanced muscle performance and dietary habits. Younger cells contribute to your overall performance, reduce the risk of certain diseases, and also promote healthier skin, as they are more resilient.

Your great advantage: With AURUM, your training is completed in just 20 minutes per week. This allows you to enjoy summer and have time for the beautiful things in life. Our tip: When spending more leisure time outdoors, pay extra attention to sun protection so that your skin stays beautiful and healthy for a long time.
